Private PADI Course
PADI Open Water Diver
Private certification, at a pace that suits you
The entry-level scuba certification, taught privately rather than folded into a busy dive-centre schedule. Confined-water training happens in our own villa's pool, followed by open-water dives at a qualifying Bali site to complete certification requirements.
Who It's For
Guests who want to learn to dive properly — not a taster, a real certification — without spending their holiday inside a dive centre alongside a rotating group of strangers.
Private Training
Flexible scheduling around your stay, one instructor dedicated to you (or your private group), and confined-water skills practiced somewhere calmer than a public training pool.
Duration
Typically 3–4 days, scheduled flexibly around your stay
Private Confined Water
In our villa's pool.
Theory review and confined-water skill development — buoyancy, mask and regulator skills, controlled ascents — conducted privately in our own villa's pool, no pool at your own accommodation needed. This covers the confined-water phase of PADI's course structure. Training takes place at Villa Rice.
Open Water
At sea.
Certification requires four open-water training dives at a qualifying Bali dive site, completed under PADI standards — our villa's pool prepares you for these, it does not replace them.

Prerequisites
- Comfortable in water — PADI requires swimming 200 yards unassisted and floating/treading water for 10 minutes
- Good general health (a medical questionnaire is completed directly with your instructor; certain conditions require physician sign-off per PADI standards)
Certification follows PADI's standard Open Water Diver course requirements — knowledge development, confined-water training (Confined Water Dives 1–5), and four open-water dives at a qualifying site. Sessions at our villa's pool cover the confined-water phase only; they do not replace the required open-water dives. Private PADI training arranged through qualified PADI professionals.
